How to schedule Google Business Profile posts
Two paths: Google's free native scheduler (2025+) or a third-party tool when you want AI captions and hands-off publishing.
Google Business Profile posts — short photo + caption updates on your Maps listing — help keep your profile active. Active profiles tend to perform better in local search and the local map pack. The good news: you no longer need a third-party tool just to schedule a post in advance.
Option 1: Schedule posts natively in Google (free)
Since late 2025, Google Business Profile includes built-in post scheduling on desktop. This is the right starting point for most single-location businesses.
- Go to business.google.com and select your profile.
- Open Posts and click Add post.
- Choose Update, Offer, or Event. Add your text, image, and CTA button.
- Turn on Schedule this post and pick a date and time.
- Optional: set Repeats to weekly or monthly for recurring posts.
- Optional: apply the same post to multiple locations if you manage several.
- Review and save. The post publishes automatically at the scheduled time.
Best for: businesses that already have copy and images ready. Limitation: you still write every post yourself and log in to schedule each one.
Option 2: Automate with a scheduling tool
Third-party tools connect to the official Google Business Profile API and publish on your behalf. They make sense when:
- You have job-site photos but not time to write 2–3 captions per week
- You want a visual calendar to plan a month of posts in one sitting
- You need unique AI-generated copy for each post (not copy-paste)
- You manage multiple locations and want separate campaigns per store
How MapPush works
- Sign in with Google — OAuth only, no password shared.
- Upload photos from your phone or job site.
- Describe your services and city; AI generates a caption per photo.
- Review and edit every caption before scheduling.
- Click dates on a calendar to set publish times.
- MapPush auto-publishes via the Google API — status shows in your dashboard.
How often should you post?
Most local SEO practitioners recommend 2–3 posts per week. Google treats profile activity as a local ranking signal. Posting once a month — or never — leaves that signal on the table.
A practical monthly workflow: spend 30 minutes pulling photos and offers from your team, draft or generate four posts, schedule them across the month, and set a mid-month reminder to check for outdated offers or events.
Native vs automated — which should you pick?
- Use Google native if you enjoy writing posts and only need a free scheduler.
- Use MapPush if photos are easy but writing copy is the bottleneck.
- Use Buffer or similar if you also schedule Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn from one dashboard.
- Use Localith or Postiz if you manage dozens of franchise locations with bulk workflows.

Common mistakes to avoid
- Scheduling expired offers or past event dates across multiple locations
- Posting identical copy on every slot (Google may treat it as low-quality)
- Forgetting to reconnect when OAuth tokens expire after long inactivity
- Skipping the preview step before bulk scheduling
